Happy New Year

Happy New Year! I cannot believe how fast the years are flying by. I feel like my daughter just turned one and she’s now six (going on sixteen). Time needs to slow down. I know people always say that but I’ve been dwelling on it lately. Time IS going by fast and I need to slow down and truly enjoy the moments.

These thoughts led me to my 2019 goals. I’ve never been a “New Year’s Resolution” girl or “New Year, New Me” because it just never works (If it does for you, awesome!). What I do believe in, is taking better care of yourself so you can fully enjoy life, your kids, your family, friends, and experiences. Most of my goals are personal but I will certainly be striving for a great year all-around personally and professionally.

2019 Goals

  • Organize several areas of my home so they function better. This one is so hard for me. I get in a good groove at the beginning of every year but then it all goes to sh*t. I’m actually working on a blog post for this, so stay tuned!

  • Be more present with my kids (aka…put my phone away when they get home from school and don’t pick it up until they’re in bed). We all need to do this!

  • Read more. I want to read more books for educating and bettering myself in all areas.

  • Healthier lifestyle - I take care of myself and workout but there is always room for improvement.

  • Blog/Share more personal Katie, here and on my Instagram. If you saw my stories yesterday, then you know what I’m talking about. I plan to share more of my personal life on stories, so if you’d like to get to know me better, be sure you’re following along ;).

So there you have it, just a few things I’m working on. My hope for this year is health and happiness for my family, friends and all of you.

Shifting gears….

I have been wanting to share this “Bye Bye Water Weight” drink for a while now. I thought today would be perfect since many of us have new goals, which may include shedding any holiday bloat. I have to give credit to my friend and trainer Dawn, who shared this with me (I made the name up for the sake of this post). I drank this for a week straight before my trip to St. John and it made me feel great. I didn’t actually lose weight but I was super hydrated and felt less puffy. Directions below.

Take a large pitcher (I use this 96-ounce plastic one above, found at my local grocery store) and fill it with 64 ounces of water. Next, add one tablespoon of unsweetened cranberry juice, juice of one lemon and one mug of Dandelion Root tea (steeped for about 10 minutes). That’s it! Drink the entire amount daily for one week. Tips: I set a goal to finish before a certain time (usually before I eat dinner). Since I find it easier to drink at room temperature, I store my pitcher on the countertop during the day. And…if you’re wondering, it doesn’t taste bad.

And because we’re starting a new year…I had to share this uplifting song. It was one of my Nana’s favorites. She was an incredibly warm and loving person. I love the message of this song and more importantly, it reminds me of her.

Cheers to a new year friends. Be kind to one another and take the time to slow down and enjoy the little moments.

xx,
Katie
